START / END: May 2018 – October 2018
BUDGET: £224,000
DESCRIPTION: Two storey rear extension
The Shieling consists of a single storey thatched property and is a former cart hovel. Prior to an extensive refurbishment in 1987, the cart hovel was in a dilapidated state.
The building is curtilage listed due to the nearby Grade 2 listed farmhouse.
The proposal consisted of the removal of the existing old glass conservatory and the replacement of a new two storey timber clad extension to the rear. Internal strip out and construction of new walls, forming a new bedroom and ground floor, open plan kitchen and dining area. The extension included a lounge on the ground floor and second bedroom on the first floor.
